Unlike standard plumbing or HVAC copper, medical gas tubing must meet the stringent requirements of the NFPA 99 (in the US) or HTM 02-01 (in the UK). The most critical factor in medical gas piping is internal cleanliness. Any residual oils, greases, or particulates within the pipe can react with high-pressure oxygen to cause spontaneous combustion or, equally dangerously, contaminate the gas being delivered to a patient. Our medical gas pipes are manufactured in a dedicated, high-cleanliness environment and undergo a multi-stage degreasing and cleaning process. Each pipe is then visually inspected and tested to ensure it contains no more than 0.0035 grams per square foot of hydrocarbon residue, far exceeding standard industrial requirements.

In addition to cleanliness, medical gas pipes must be exceptionally durable and reliable. These systems are often embedded within the walls of hospitals and are intended to function for many decades without maintenance. We use C12200 phosphorus-deoxidized copper, which offers the best balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and ease of brazing.
